[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Solar cell specialist SoftPVB announced on the 15th that it has obtained a technology evaluation grade of T3 level for its ‘surface-mount ultra-small 3D solar cell technology’ in a technology credit assessment.
The technology evaluation T3 grade is an excellent rating that meets the KOSDAQ technology special listing requirements. The technology evaluation comprehensively analyzes technology, rights, marketability, and business feasibility, assigning a total of 10 grades from T10 to T1. The lower the number, the higher the grade.
SoftPVB is the company that developed the world’s first electronic component-type 3D spherical solar cell called ‘SoftCell,’ which won the Innovation Award at CES 2021.
SoftCell is a spherical solar cell mounted in the form of electronic components on SoftFoam, a transparent and flexible film with electronic circuits printed on it, absorbing light vertically from all directions at 360 degrees. Compared to conventional flat solar modules, it has higher power generation per unit area, longer total generation time, and enables uniform power generation regardless of location, time, and season. Additionally, it can operate indoors, works 24 hours a day, and allows free shapes and circuit designs depending on the film form.
Recently, SoftPVB completed the development of Solvista, the world’s first intelligent BIPV module integrating micro batteries, sensors, and communication chips, and Soltria, an artificial solar tree-type product. SoftPVB stated that these products are being prepared for exhibition at CES 2022.
The newly developed Solvista can monitor the amount of power generated from each glass window of a building by location, time, and season, collecting big data.
A SoftPVB official said, "The newly developed Soltria is made into a higher form of artificial tree for places without power grids, and when installed in residential areas such as apartment complexes, new towns, or deserts and remote areas without power grids, it can serve as an eco-friendly power plant. Having obtained the technology credit evaluation T3 grade, which recognizes our technological capability and external competitiveness, we will do our best to develop better technologies."
