'Saengsaeng Munhwajae' 165 Cases, 'Hyanggyeo·Seowon Cultural Heritage Utilization' 107 Cases, etc.
On the 15th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that it has selected 405 projects for next year's regional cultural heritage utilization initiatives. These include 165 projects under 'Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage,' 107 projects for 'Hyanggyo and Seowon Cultural Heritage Utilization,' 45 projects for Cultural Heritage Night Tours, 44 projects for Traditional Mountain Temple Cultural Heritage Utilization, and 45 projects for Old Houses and Jongga Family House Utilization. This is an increase of five projects compared to the 400 projects selected this year.
A total of 568 applications were submitted. The Cultural Heritage Administration carefully selected 405 projects by evaluating the excellence of the content and the ability to operate the projects. For the Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage program, which discovers the value and meaning of regional cultural heritage and fosters it as content, selected projects include 'The Story of Gwansagol Following Alleys and Memories' in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk; 'Buan Ubandong! Ban Gye Teacher's Idea Development Lab' in Buan, Jeonbuk; and 'Ihyujeong in the City, Ulsan Cultural Heritage Blossoms' in Nam-gu, Ulsan. For the Hyanggyo and Seowon Cultural Heritage Utilization program, which explores the historical value of figures enshrined in hyanggyo and seowon, thirteen additional sites were selected, including Sangju Hyanggyo in Sangju, Gyeongbuk, and Ohyeondan (Gyullim Seowon) in Jeju Island.
Cultural Heritage Night Tours are programs that hold various cultural events centered around regional cultural heritage at night. Next year, eleven new projects will be added to existing night tours in Suncheon, Suwon, and Gangneung, including 'Sejong Village Cultural Heritage Night Tour' in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and 'Swaemirok, the Story of the Common People of Jinju Fortress' in Jinju, Gyeongnam. For the Traditional Mountain Temple Cultural Heritage Utilization, which promotes cultural heritage and historical and cultural resources held by temples, four new sites have been designated, including Yeongpyeongsa Temple in Sejong and Sinansa Temple in Geumsan, Chungnam. The Old Houses and Jongga Family House Utilization program offers experiences of traditional culture passed down in old houses. Next year, these experiences will be available at the Kim Myeonggwan Old House in Jeongeup, Jeonbuk; the Galam Jongtaek in Yeongdeok, Gyeongbuk; and the Yeoheung Min Clan Old House in Buyeo, Chungnam.
Meanwhile, the Cultural Heritage Administration has also newly selected projects utilizing information and communication technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and the metaverse. These include thirteen projects such as 'Ride the Metaverse and Wander Wolbong' in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju; 'Find the Lotus Sutra, Immersive Lotus Sutra Experience' in Seogwipo, Jeju; and 'AR Immersive Content That Vividly Feels the Scene of That Day in Gongju' in Gongju, Chungnam. The Cultural Heritage Administration stated, "Depending on the spread of COVID-19, the method of implementation may change to non-face-to-face or online."
