[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Both Yonsei University and Korea University recorded a 14.6 to 1 competition ratio for the 2022 academic year early admission.
According to Jongno Academy on the 13th, Korea University, which closed early application submissions that day, had a competition ratio of 14.66 to 1, a significant increase from 9.54 to 1 the previous year.
On the other hand, Yonsei University recorded 14.64 to 1, a decrease from 18.06 to 1 the previous year.
At Korea University, the general admission (academic excellence type) for the College of Medicine, recruiting 36 students, had the highest competition ratio at 29.89 to 1 with 1,076 applicants.
At Yonsei University, the highest competition ratio was recorded in the essay admission for the Department of Pharmacy, with 736 applicants for 5 spots, resulting in a ratio of 147.20 to 1.
Jongno Academy analyzed that the reason for the increase in Korea University's competition ratio was due to a significant reduction in early admission slots and the abolition of the self-introduction letter, which reduced the burden on applicants, leading to a large increase in applicants for the general admission (academic excellence type).
For Yonsei University, Jongno Academy explained that in the case of the essay admission, the essay test (October 2) was held before the CSAT (November 18), unlike the previous year, which greatly reduced applicants due to the burden of the CSAT, and the student record-based admission (recommendation type) also saw a decrease in applicants compared to the previous year's student record comprehensive (interview type) due to limits on the number of recommendations.
