Controversial National Support Fund Offline Application First Day

On the first day of offline applications for the COVID-19 Coexistence National Support Fund on the 13th, citizens were receiving related consultations at the Gireum 1-dong Community Service Center in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, and the Cheongunhyoja-dong Community Service Center in Jongno-gu.

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, from the 6th to the 12th, the number of online applicants for the National Support Fund was 29,503,000, with a cumulative payment amount of 7.3757 trillion won. The provisional number of eligible recipients for the National Support Fund, as compiled by the Ministry, was 43.26 million. This means that 68.2% of all eligible recipients have received the support fund. By payment method, 26,379,000 people (89.4%) used credit or debit cards, and 3,124,000 people (10.6%) used local love gift certificates. However, during the same period, the number of appeals exceeded 70,000, continuing the controversy surrounding the 88% payment criteria.
