BTS's 'IDOL' Music Video Surpasses 1 Billion Views... Sixth Time Overall Group Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS).


[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The music video for the group BTS's ‘IDOL’ has surpassed 1 billion views.


According to Big Hit Music on the 13th, the YouTube view count of BTS's repackaged album 'LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer' title track ‘IDOL’ music video, released in August 2018, exceeded 1 billion views at around 10:39 PM on the 11th. With this, ‘IDOL’ became the sixth BTS music video to reach 1 billion views in total.


‘IDOL’ gained worldwide popularity immediately after its release, ranking 11th on the US Billboard main singles chart ‘Hot 100’ and 21st on the UK ‘Official Singles Chart Top 100’. The ‘IDOL’ music video, which conveys a joyful festival atmosphere, draws attention with its lavish sets inspired by tropical savanna grasslands, Bukcheong Saja Nori (lion dance), Euro-Asian architecture, and traditional Korean styles. The performance, combining Korean Samulnori and Talchum (mask dance), enhanced with subculture graphic effects, captivates viewers with its stylish and vibrant visuals.


Additionally, the YouTube view count of BTS's ‘Permission to Dance’ music video, released last July, surpassed 300 million views at around 12:59 PM on the 10th. ‘Permission to Dance’ is an upbeat dance-pop song with lyrics expressing that ‘you can dance freely without permission whenever your heart desires.’ The song ranked first on the US Billboard main singles chart ‘Hot 100’ on July 24.


Meanwhile, BTS holds a total of 34 music videos with over 100 million views each. These include ‘DNA’ and ‘Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)’ each with 1.3 billion views, ‘Dynamite’ with 1.2 billion views, and ‘MIC Drop’ remix, ‘FAKE LOVE’, and ‘IDOL’ each with 1 billion views.
