US Judge Who Filmed Naked Children and Possessed Videos... Swallowed Memory Card When Caught by Police

[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] It has been revealed that a U.S. judge accused of filming naked young boys and possessing the videos took his own life.

On the 11th, the Associated Press reported that FBI agents went to the home of Jonathan Newall (50), a judge at the Caroline County Circuit Court in Maryland, on the 10th (local time) to arrest him, but found him deceased. According to the report, investigators witnessed Judge Newall suffering from a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted.

According to Maryland police, investigators had responded to a report in July about a video camera installed in the bathroom of a cabin. The cabin was owned by Judge Newall and was a place where six boys had spent a night together. Afterwards, Judge Newall waived his right to remain silent and cooperated with police questioning, then went into his bedroom to charge his phone and make a call.

However, knowing that the memory card was missing from the camera at the time, investigators saw Judge Newall bring his hand near his mouth and suspected he may have swallowed evidence, so they took him to the hospital. A subsequent CT scan revealed that Judge Newall had swallowed a metallic object.

Following this, authorities obtained a search warrant and conducted searches of Judge Newall’s cabin, residence, office, truck, and boat. As a result, hard drives containing videos showing scenes of boys showering or Judge Newall installing cameras in the bathroom were discovered. Boys interviewed by the FBI stated that they had been to the cabin with Judge Newall and that he had examined their naked bodies under the pretext of checking for ticks.
