Naver Webtoon Tops Google Play Revenue in France... "Targeting Europe"

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver Webtoon has ranked first in sales and downloads in the comics category on Google Play France.

According to Naver Webtoon on the 10th, it has maintained the number one position in the comics category on Google Play France for over 200 days since switching to a paid service in November last year.

In the Apple App Store entertainment category, it ranked 12th, competing with Netflix, Disney Plus, and others.

Tappytoon, in which Naver Webtoon has invested, also ranked second in sales on Google Play France's comics category. Tappytoon is a global webtoon platform serving 5 million users in about 190 countries.

Naver Webtoon is growing not only by translating and promoting Korean webtoon content but also by discovering and nurturing local content through the 'Canvas System,' a contest-based platform. The strategy is to build a global webtoon ecosystem starting with thorough localization.

Kim Sol, Naver Webtoon’s France Service Leader, said, “France is the second largest comic market in Europe after Germany, making it an important market for building a global webtoon ecosystem. Through a thorough localization strategy, we will present competitive content and actively expand into the European market, including France.”
