[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] JUSUNG Engineering, a leading domestic semiconductor, display, and solar equipment company, announced on the 8th that it has secured an order worth approximately 47.1 billion KRW for solar cell manufacturing equipment from a European solar cell manufacturer. This amount corresponds to about 39.7% of its recent sales revenue.
Amid the rapid expansion of the renewable energy industry in line with global environmental regulations such as carbon neutrality to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, JUSUNG Engineering is actively discussing new orders with prominent overseas clients.
Since starting the development of solar cell manufacturing equipment in 2004, JUSUNG Engineering has invested over 300 billion KRW solely in research and development (R&D) related to solar cell technology. The company has a track record of supplying mass production manufacturing equipment for solar cells to various customers not only in Korea but also in the United States, Europe, China, and Southeast Asia.
Currently, JUSUNG Engineering possesses both thin film and crystalline (c-Si) solar cell technologies. It can apply various methods such as single-junction and multi-junction technologies to solar cells.
This year, the N-Type monocrystalline HJT (Heterojunction Technology) solar cell developed by JUSUNG achieved a world-class power conversion efficiency of over 24.5%, continuously maintaining solid competitiveness in solar cell technology.
Behind this innovation is the JUSUNG Yongin R&D Center. Completed in early last year, the JUSUNG Yongin R&D Center accelerates technology development by researching semiconductor, display, and solar technologies in one space. It also greatly contributes to maximizing the synergy and efficiency of R&D by converging and integrating technologies from each sector.
A JUSUNG Engineering official stated, “Based on semiconductor ALD technology and large-area deposition technology for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, we will converge HJT technology and perovskite technology to introduce the next-generation solar cell equipment capable of achieving over 35% efficiency to the market for the first time. Based on these technologies, we will actively respond to domestic and international solar cell equipment orders and present a new paradigm for solar cells.”
