65 Students from 3 Universities Attend Non-Face-to-Face Classes... New Wave of International, Student, and Credit Exchange

In the With-Corona Era, "These Classes Stand Out"... Dongseo University Launches Joint Courses with 3 Universities in 2 Countries Scenes from the course overview presentations of three universities.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] In the With-Corona era, a new wave pursuing international exchange, student exchange, and credit exchange through online platforms is shaking up the scene.

Dongseo University is operating a new concept of joint classes linked with domestic and international universities in the design field for the first time.

This semester, Dongseo University opened joint classes with Ulsan University and Kyushu Sangyo University in Japan.

On the 6th, Dongseo University’s College of Design announced that it will operate the ‘International Exchange Project (Creative together), Capstone Design’ classes in collaboration with three design colleges from two countries.

In the untact era, this is a new concept class method that actively utilizes the advantages of online platforms by sharing systems with Kyushu Sangyo University, a sister university in Fukuoka, Japan, and nearby Ulsan University.

Since May of this year, officials from the three universities have held regular meetings and operated various programs (special lectures by domestic and international experts, joint workshops, sharing of results) starting from the summer vacation.

The full-scale classes are scheduled to begin this second semester, with each university promising to open new courses.

Each university has opened the ‘International Exchange Project (Creative together), Capstone Design’ courses. This semester, 21 students from Dongseo University, 30 from Ulsan University, and 14 from Kyushu Sangyo University applied.

Students from the three universities, regardless of grade or major, apply voluntarily and form joint teams, operating through expert lectures, workshops, and sharing of outcomes.

The theme of the workshop is ‘Circular Design’ (proposals for village revitalization, package design proposals using regenerated areas, production of works using recycled materials, ideas for a circular society such as reuse and recycling), reflecting current trends.

Results on this theme are produced and operated in the form of feedback from professors of the three universities and discussions and debates among students.

Additionally, designers from various industrial fields and academic authorities from home and abroad are invited to provide students with advanced design information.

This is a unique educational program that offers design college students various opportunities and provides chances for international exchange, student exchange, and credit exchange through online platforms, separate from traditional university teaching methods.

President Jang Je-guk said, “In preparation for the With-Corona era, we plan to continuously expand online classes in connection with overseas sister universities and domestic universities.”
