LG Hello Launches Antivirus Air Purifier... Rental Service at 29,900 KRW per Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] LG HelloVision Hello Rental announced on the 6th that it has launched its own brand antiviral air purifier, ‘HelloVision Aero Doctor,’ targeting the stay-at-home era, and offers it as a rental service for 29,900 KRW per month (based on 60 months). It features not only air purification but also patented technology that removes bacteria and viruses.

HelloVision Aero Doctor is the second in-house manufactured (OEM) product introduced by Hello Rental following the food waste disposer. With the prolonged stay-at-home lifestyle after COVID-19, interest in indoor ‘air quality’ has surged, and the product addresses the pain points of existing customers who could not feel assured with just general air purification functions, challenging the differentiated antiviral air purification market.

It produces clean air free from fine dust and allergy concerns, directly decomposes and removes harmful bacteria and viruses, making it safer, the company emphasized. It is equipped with ▲antibacterial, antiviral, and deodorizing functions (patented) through a UV LED photocatalyst module ▲4-stage filter air purification function ▲customer convenience features (remote control, display of purification status, fine dust concentration, filter management timing, etc.) ▲and an interior-friendly design.

In particular, the UV LED photocatalyst technology, patented through technology transfer from the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), is considered the core. This technology generates reactive oxygen species on the photocatalyst surface exposed to ultraviolet light to decompose and remove organic compounds. Certified experiments have proven that it removes 99.9% of airborne bacteria (such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and viruses (bacteriophage MS2) within one hour.

LG HelloVision added, “Although this product reduces the risk of viral infection, various variables such as infections through face-to-face activities exist, so personal-level quarantine efforts to prevent viral infections must continue.”

Customers can apply through Hello Rental Shop or the customer center. The monthly rental fee is 29,900 KRW (based on 60 months), and with affiliated cards (Kookmin, Hyundai, Shinhan, Lotte, Hana), it can be used for as low as 9,900 KRW per month. Free nationwide delivery is standard, and services such as ▲free AS during the rental period ▲half-price filter purchase (limited to Hello Rental Shop and customer center) are also provided.

Kim Yeon-bae, head of LG HelloVision Rental Business Division, said, “As indoor ‘air quality’ management has become a necessity rather than a choice due to prolonged stay-at-home and the establishment of remote work, we hope this product will enhance customers’ quality of life. Hello Rental will continue to introduce premium home appliances centered on ‘hygiene, health, and environment,’ which have become more important in the COVID era, providing differentiated customer value.”

Meanwhile, since its official launch in 2016, LG HelloVision Hello Rental has built a sales network based on nationwide cable TV customer touchpoints and is servicing a total of 49 brands with various products. In particular, it has targeted a differentiated market centered on high-priced general home appliances preferred by customers beyond traditional rental products such as bidets and water purifiers, achieving an average annual growth rate exceeding 70% until last year since its launch.
