Ministry of Science and ICT Announces Contest to Discover Science Creators in the Space Sector

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 2nd that it will hold the 'Science Creator (SIT) Discovery Contest' in collaboration with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute to produce various video content related to South Korea's science, technology, and information and communication policies.

'Science Creator, SIT (Science and ICT)' refers to a science and technology specialist creator who provides accurate and easy-to-understand science and technology (Science and ICT) information to the mobile generation that acquires key information while sitting at home or in the office (sit), by showing it (See IT).

The theme of this contest is space, prepared to raise public interest in space policies and R&D projects such as the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho launch scheduled for the 21st of next month, and the full-scale development of the Korean Positioning System (KPS) starting next year.

Anyone interested in space can participate, and participants must freely select space-related topics such as South Korea's space policies and history, current status of technology development, dreams and challenges of space development, and produce videos.

The contest will be held online from the 6th to October 3rd, and excellent creators will be selected through a comprehensive evaluation of the video's thematic relevance, expressiveness, originality, and completeness, with awards planned for mid-next month.

The grand prize winner will receive the Minister of Science and ICT Award and a prize of 3 million KRW. Approximately 10 winners will be selected, including the Excellence Award (Chairman of the National Research Council of Science & Technology Award, 1.5 million KRW), the Merit Award (Chairman of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity Award, 1 million KRW), and the Encouragement Award (President of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute Award, 500,000 KRW).

The winning works will be released through the Ministry of Science and ICT and the creators' YouTube, Facebook, and other SNS channels. In the future, creators who continue to produce content on various science and technology policies can also receive support from the Ministry of Science and ICT. To facilitate smooth content production, the Ministry will actively support creators by providing key policy information and arranging visits to departments and institutions. Outstanding active creators will be offered opportunities to participate in the ministry's digital publicity advisory group and incentives for participation in future contests.
