Pamicell Secures 9 Billion Won Nucleoside Order

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Pharmicell announced on the 2nd that it received an order worth approximately $7.7 million (about 9 billion KRW) for nucleosides from the US company ThermoFisher Scientific. This is the largest single order for nucleosides in the company's history.

Nucleosides are mainly used for mRNA vaccine purification, virus diagnostic kits, and infectious disease diagnostic reagents. One of the nucleosides produced by Pharmicell, DMT-dT, is used for purification to remove impurities generated during the mRNA vaccine manufacturing process.

A company official stated, "As nucleosides are used in the production of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna, demand is increasing," adding, "With the continuous growth of active pharmaceutical ingredients, we expect this year's performance to also reach an all-time high."
