[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jaehee] Siblings Ishan Thakur (14) and his younger sister Anya (9), living in Texas, USA, are reportedly earning more than $30,000 (approximately 34.78 million KRW) per month through cryptocurrency mining, CNBC reported on the 31st (local time).

According to the report, the Thakur siblings started mining cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum in April this year with the help of their father Manish Raj, a former investment banker, and by learning through YouTube.

The mining operation, which initially began in their own room, expanded to renting a parking lot and eventually a data center, growing in scale to the point where they established a cryptocurrency mining company named "Flipper Technology."

On the first day of mining in April, they earned only $3, but their income has reportedly been increasing steadily.

Ishan told CNBC, "We started cryptocurrency mining to study new technology and make money in the process," adding, "Cryptocurrency mining is similar to mining gold or diamonds. Instead of using shovels, we use computers."

The Thakur siblings plan to reinvest their cryptocurrency mining income and hope to cover their college tuition fees with future earnings.
