Sejong Citizens Directly Monitor 'Illegal Fine Dust Emissions'

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City is launching a recruitment drive for an illegal fine dust emission monitoring team.

According to the city on the 31st, a total of 10 monitors will be recruited, and applications can be submitted by sending the relevant documents via registered mail to the Environmental Policy Division of City Hall from the 1st to the 3rd of next month.

Applicants must be residents of Sejong as of the day before the announcement, aged between 20 and under 70 years old, and hold a driver's license. However, for the administrative support position (1 person), the age limit is restricted to between 20 and under 55 years old.

Preference will be given during the document screening to those with experience in environmental-related duties or holders of environmental-related certifications.

Additionally, for the administrative support position, holders of computer-related certifications will be given preference.

The city plans to finalize the selection of monitors through document review and interviews. Selected monitors will be assigned from October to the southern and northern regional bases of Sejong City and the Environmental Policy Division office. They will be responsible for checking the operation reduction of major fine dust emission businesses and enforcing restrictions on vehicle exhaust and idling in designated areas during high-concentration fine dust emergency reduction measures issued in early winter and spring.

Outside of these periods, they will monitor major emission sources and promptly verify and respond to environmental complaints on-site.
