Rocket Attack Near Kabul Airport in Afghanistan... Foreign Media Report "At Least 1 Dead" (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] On the 29th (local time), two days before the withdrawal deadline set by the United States and the Taliban for Afghanistan, rocket attacks occurred near Kabul airport, according to foreign media such as AFP and AP.

Security personnel from the Afghan government deployed at the scene told AFP that the explosion was caused by a rocket attack and reported that shells fell on houses. AP reported that the rockets landed northwest of Kabul airport, resulting in the death of one child.

Meanwhile, another major foreign media outlet cited two U.S. officials saying that the United States carried out military strikes targeting IS-K fighters, who claim to be the Islamic State (IS) branch in Afghanistan. A Taliban spokesperson stated that the U.S. airstrike targeted a suicide bomber aiming at Kabul airport.

Earlier, in response to the Kabul airport bombing that killed over 170 people, including 13 U.S. troops, the United States conducted retaliatory drone strikes and announced that two senior IS-K leaders were eliminated. The U.S. also issued an alert, citing specific and credible terrorist threat information near Kabul airport.
