[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Amy (39), a broadcaster who was forcibly deported for drug use, was arrested again for using drugs after entering the country.
On the 28th, according to the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit, the Chuncheon District Court Wonju Branch issued an arrest warrant for Amy on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. The court issued the warrant, citing concerns that Amy might flee or destroy evidence.
The police urgently arrested Amy two days ago in the afternoon in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, on suspicion of using methamphetamine. While investigating drug offenders, the police obtained intelligence related to Amy's drug use and apprehended her. It is reported that Amy admitted all charges during the police investigation.
Amy, a U.S. citizen, was caught using propofol in 2012 and was sentenced by the court to 8 months in prison with a 2-year probation. The immigration authorities allowed her stay twice after receiving compliance pledges stating "If I break the law again, I will not object even if forcibly deported." However, she was forcibly deported in 2014 after receiving a fine for zolpidem use. Amy, who entered Korea in January this year, is known to have been aiming for a comeback.
