[2022 Early Admission] Yonsei University Introduces Minimum CSAT Scores for Some Student Records-Based Admissions

[2022 Early Admission] Yonsei University Introduces Minimum CSAT Scores for Some Student Records-Based Admissions

Yonsei University will select 1,954 students through early admission out of the total 3,431 students for the 2022 academic year. This year, a new Student Record-Based Screening has been introduced, and some of the Comprehensive Student Record-Based Screening will apply a minimum CSAT score requirement. The newly established Department of Artificial Intelligence in the College of AI Convergence will also admit freshmen.

The number of students to be admitted by each early admission screening type is △523 for Student Record-Based Screening △923 for Comprehensive Student Record-Based Screening △346 for Essay Screening △162 for Special Talent Screening △123 for Non-quota Screening.

The Student Record-Based Screening (Recommendation Type) is a revamped screening from the previous Comprehensive Student Record-Based Screening (Interview Type), selecting the same number of 523 students as last year. Only third-year students currently enrolled in domestic high schools who have received a recommendation from their school principal (up to 5% of the third-year students per school) can apply. The number of candidates invited for interviews has been expanded from three times to five times the number of available spots. Interviews will be conducted via on-site non-face-to-face recorded sessions, with natural sciences on October 16 and humanities, social sciences, and integrated fields on October 17.

The Comprehensive Student Record-Based Screening (Activity Excellence Type) is open to graduates (or expected graduates) of domestic and overseas high schools or those recognized as having an academic level equivalent to high school graduation. This year, a minimum academic achievement standard has been introduced for the Activity Excellence Type. The interview evaluates basic academic competencies necessary for university studies based on provided materials and will be conducted via on-site non-face-to-face recorded sessions on November 20 for natural sciences and November 21 for humanities and social sciences.

The International Type distinguishes eligibility between overseas high school/qualification exam applicants and domestic high school applicants, with a minimum academic achievement standard newly applied to domestic high school applicants. Interviews for overseas high school/qualification exam applicants will be conducted via video upload from November 24 to 26, while domestic high school applicants will have on-site non-face-to-face recorded interviews on November 27.

The Essay Screening will select 346 students, a 9.9% decrease compared to the previous year. It aims to select students with excellent essay skills suitable for the characteristics of their major, maintaining a minimum scale. Selection is based 100% on essay scores, the same as last year. For natural sciences, applicants must choose one subject from the designated science subjects per department. The essay exam will be held on October 2, before the CSAT.
