[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Jadam Chicken announced on the 26th that starting this month, it will donate waste cooking oil to the Chuncheon Senior Club, an elderly job support organization in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.

The Chuncheon Senior Club is a local welfare foundation dedicated to creating jobs for the elderly, providing employment opportunities in various fields such as ▲social services ▲manufacturing and sales of daily necessities ▲public interest activities. Jadam Chicken will support the ‘EM Soap’ project, which uses waste cooking oil to make eco-friendly soap.

Waste cooking oil left after frying chicken is a resource used in various ways, and usually chicken restaurants sell it to collection and disposal companies for money. Despite the recent rise in prices of cooking oil and waste oil, Jadam Chicken franchise owners decided to donate a portion of it to support jobs for elderly people in the local community.

All seven Chuncheon area franchises, including ▲Hupyeong Branch ▲Toegye Hansup Branch ▲Gangbuk Branch ▲Aemakgol Branch ▲Geodubomnae Branch ▲Yaksamyeongdong Branch ▲Onuigongjicheon Branch, voluntarily participated in the waste cooking oil donation.

Jadam Chicken considers its oil, a premium blend of canola oil and sunflower oil, suitable for recycling into soap and other products. The Chuncheon Senior Club plans to produce soap using Jadam Chicken’s waste oil, providing jobs and income to participating elderly individuals, and use the profits from selling the eco-friendly soap for elderly welfare projects.

Meanwhile, Jadam Chicken, a chicken brand that started franchising in 2014, differentiates itself from other brands by adopting a premium quality strategy using environmentally friendly ingredients such as animal welfare broilers and 100% domestic raw meat. Currently, about 510 franchises operate nationwide.
