Ministry of Personnel Management Announces Final Successful Candidates for Grade 9 National Public Officials... Average Age of Final Successful Candidates is 28.6 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Among the 5,629 final successful candidates for the Grade 9 national civil service exam, the proportion of women exceeded half, reaching 55%.
The Ministry of Personnel Management announced on the 25th the final successful candidates of 5,629 for the 2021 Grade 9 national civil service open competitive recruitment exam through the Cyber National Examination Center.
Previously, 156,311 candidates took the written exam on April 17, with 7,514 passing. After the interview exam held from August 4, the final number of successful candidates was tallied at 5,629.
The Ministry of Personnel Management explained, "By recruitment field, 4,953 passed in the administrative category and 676 in the technical category. Among them, 239 passed under the quota for persons with disabilities, and 150 under the quota for low-income groups."
The female pass rate for the Grade 9 open competitive exam was 55.0% (3,097 candidates). The female pass rates were 48.4% in 2017, 53.9% in 2018, 57.4% in 2019, and 49.7% in 2020. This year’s female pass rate is the second highest after 2019.
Under the Gender Equality Employment Quota System, 79 candidates (70 men and 9 women) were additionally admitted across seven recruitment units. This system allows additional admission of candidates of the underrepresented gender if their pass rate is below 30% of the expected number of successful candidates.
The average age of the final successful candidates was 28.6 years, 0.4 years younger than last year's 29.0 years.
The Ministry of Personnel Management explained, "By age group, those aged 20-29 accounted for the largest share at 67.4% (3,797 candidates), followed by 30-39 years at 27.4% (1,544 candidates), 40-49 years at 4.2% (236 candidates), 50 years and older at 0.9% (48 candidates), and 18-19 years at 0.1% (4 candidates)."
Meanwhile, the final successful candidates must register as recruitment candidates on the Cyber National Examination Center between the 26th and 30th. Those who fail to register will be considered to have declined appointment.
