[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Jeonbuk Namwon City (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 24th that it will promote the eco-friendly "Electric Vehicle and Electric Excavator Private Supply Project" in the second half of the year to create a pleasant air environment by reducing fine dust.
The city plans to secure an additional budget of 3.285 billion KRW in the second half of the year for electric vehicles and provide subsidies for 50 electric passenger cars and 80 electric cargo vehicles.
Electric passenger cars can receive up to 17 million KRW, and electric cargo vehicles can receive up to 25 million KRW for small-sized vehicles.
To supply electric excavators that reduce noise and environmental pollutant emissions compared to existing excavators, the city has secured a budget of 280 million KRW and plans to provide subsidies for 14 units, with a maximum subsidy of 20 million KRW.
The eligibility criteria allow citizens who have had an address in the city for more than three months as of the application date or corporations located in the city to apply. The eligible vehicle models can be checked on the Ministry of Environment's Electric Vehicle Integrated Portal.
Applications can be submitted through manufacturers or sales agents. For more details, refer to the announcement on Namwon City's website or contact the Environment Division or manufacturers and sales agents.
A city official said, "We hope for much interest and applications for eco-friendly electric excavators with low noise," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to reduce fine dust and improve air quality through the expansion of the eco-friendly vehicle private supply project."
