[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Busan, which has come under the influence of Typhoon No. 12 'Omais,' is experiencing heavy rain exceeding 50mm per hour.

According to the Busan Meteorological Office, as of 11:30 PM on the 23rd, Gadukdo recorded the highest rainfall in Busan at 86mm.

In particular, Gadukdo experienced 50.5mm of rain in the previous hour, with hourly rainfall of 20 to 30mm recorded across various parts of Busan.

As Omais approached the southern coast, winds gradually intensified. The maximum instantaneous wind speed in Busan was 23.1 m/s, recorded at the Oryukdo Observatory at 11:30 PM. The Gudeoksan Observatory recorded 21.9 m/s, and Gadukdo recorded 20.6 m/s of instantaneous wind speed. Due to sudden heavy rain, several roads in the city are flooded and closed off.

A Meteorological Administration official said, "Typhoon warnings have been issued for the Gyeongsang region, with some areas experiencing over 70mm of rain per hour and strong winds with maximum instantaneous speeds of 20 m/s," adding, "Please pay special attention to safety."

The Busan Police Agency announced that as of 11:30 PM, traffic was prohibited on 13 roads in Busan, including the Choryang 1 and 2 underground passages in Dong-gu, Busan. The Choryang 1 underground passage was the site where three citizens died due to record-breaking heavy rain and flooding last year.

Additionally, due to strong winds, container truck access to the Gwangandaegyo Bridge was restricted from 11:35 PM. Prior to this, the Busan city government issued an evacuation order for residents of the flood-prone Jaseongdae Apartment in Dong-gu, Busan, resulting in the evacuation of 33 people from 22 households.
