Min Young-sam, National Integration Special Advisor, Claims Lee Jun-seok and Yoo Seung-min Joined Camps
Post Deleted and Resignation Announced Amid Controversy
Yoon Seok-yeol's Side Faces Difficult Position
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] A member of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's presidential campaign team from the People Power Party wrote a critical post mentioning the resignation of Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party. When the post sparked controversy, it was deleted and the member expressed their intention to resign. The explanation from Yoon's side that the consideration of an emergency response committee system was 'absurd' appeared weak.
On the 22nd, Min Young-sam, a national integration special advisor for former Prosecutor General Yoon, posted on social media (SNS), "To accomplish the great task of regime change, I believe Lee must choose one of two options: either resign as leader and join Yoo Seung-min's campaign to say whatever he wants, or keep the leadership position and remain silent until the presidential election."
Min's post criticized Lee by pointing out Lee's closeness to Yoo Seung-min, a former lawmaker and presidential candidate from the People Power Party. Given concerns about unfairness in the primary process, Min suggested that Lee should either step down or withdraw from the overall primary process.
When the post caused controversy, Min stated, "This was a personal judgment and reflection, completely unrelated to the campaign," and added, "Due to potential misunderstandings, I have closed the post." However, judging that the situation was not resolved, Min eventually expressed his intention to resign.
Yoon's side informed reporters, "Min has expressed his intention to resign," and "The national campaign has accepted this and has dismissed him from his special advisor position."
Since this information became public, concerns about the conflict between Lee and Yoon have intensified.
On the morning of the same day, former Prosecutor General Yoon met with reporters and responded to media reports that the campaign was considering holding the presidential primary under an emergency response committee system by saying, "An emergency response committee means removing a leader whose term is guaranteed through a party convention," and added, "This is an absurd story that makes no sense logically."
However, as it was confirmed that a campaign official openly advocated dismantling Lee's leadership, Yoon's position became awkward.
