[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] As the global semiconductor war intensifies, semiconductor companies are expanding open recruitment in the second half of this year to secure outstanding talent. Competition to secure talent is becoming fierce across various fields, from integrated device manufacturers (IDM) to fabless companies and semiconductor equipment firms.
According to the industry on the 21st, Samsung Electronics plans to hold an online recruitment briefing session on the 25th ahead of its open recruitment for new employees in the second half of this year in September. Using the video conferencing platform Zoom, the briefing will introduce major business divisions of Samsung Electronics' DS Division and present technology trends.
Samsung Electronics is the only company among the four major conglomerates to maintain open recruitment for new employees and, as in previous years, will announce the recruitment notice in September and begin recruiting level 3 college graduate new employees. In addition to the briefing session, the written test, the Job Aptitude Test (GSAT), will also be conducted online.
LX Semicon, a system semiconductor fabless company, has also been conducting rolling recruitment for new and experienced employees for the second half of this year since the 17th. It plans to hire about 60 people in total this second half, including new master's and doctoral researchers and experienced employees, and including the recruitment scale in the first half, the total recruitment this year is expected to reach about 300.
The recruitment fields cover all R&D (research and development) areas such as ▲analog design ▲digital design ▲process technology. The eligibility for new master's and doctoral applicants is possession of a master's or doctoral degree. For experienced employees, those with a master's or doctoral degree need more than one year of relevant work experience, and bachelor's degree holders need more than four years of relevant work experience.
ASML, which possesses outstanding technology in the field of semiconductor extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment, is also recently expanding recruitment in Korea.
ASML Korea announced that it will post an open recruitment notice for the second half of this year from August 30 to September 13 and plans to hire about 100 engineers in the second half of this year alone. ASML Korea currently employs about 1,500 employees, and thanks to the demand from domestic companies following the growth of the semiconductor industry, it recruited an additional 150 new employees in the first half of this year.
The open recruitment targets engineering majors holding bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees, and final candidates will be selected through document screening and interviews. Successful candidates will be responsible for various technical tasks such as operation, installation, and maintenance of ASML equipment after joining, and will receive related training, support for growth as industry experts, and various benefits. Work locations include four sites: Hwaseong, Icheon, Pyeongtaek, and Cheongju.
ASML has also prepared various non-face-to-face sessions so that applicants can better understand the company. Sessions such as 'Career Talk,' where engineers and HR personnel introduce the company and answer questions, and 'Lab Tour,' where master's and doctoral candidates can seek advice and consultation on practical work from current engineers, are prepared.
