'Localization of Hydrofluoric Acid' Ramtech Plans Administrative Appeal and Lawsuit After Factory Construction Permit Rejection

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Jeong-su] Semiconductor process chemical material specialist company Ram Technology announced on the 19th that it plans to file an administrative appeal or administrative lawsuit against Dangjin City, Chungnam, for rejecting the factory construction permit within Seokmun National Industrial Complex.

Ram Technology, which succeeded in domestic production of hydrogen fluoride, a core material for semiconductors and displays, purchased land within Seokmun National Industrial Complex in Dangjin City and proceeded with investment in a new factory for domestic hydrogen fluoride production.

Subsequently, it signed a lease contract with the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and planned to complete the new factory in the first half of next year to significantly increase the production volume of hydrogen fluoride-related products. However, the construction of the new factory was delayed due to Dangjin City's permit rejection.

The hydrogen fluoride produced by Ram Technology is one of the three core materials (photoresist, hydrogen fluoride, polyimide) in the semiconductor material industry and has a high dependence on imports.

In particular, when the Korea-Japan trade dispute occurred in 2019, domestic semiconductor companies faced difficulties due to Japan's export ban, highlighting the absolute necessity of domestic production for this material.

Ram Technology is known as a company that succeeded in domestic production of hydrogen fluoride by developing ultra-high purity hydrogen fluoride production technology through arduous efforts.

A Ram Technology official stated, "The government has already approved production of the item recognizing our technology, but due to Dangjin City's decision, stabilization of domestic hydrogen fluoride production and expansion of productivity are expected to face setbacks," adding, "We will actively communicate with administrative agencies to re-pursue the construction of the new factory and minimize delays in factory establishment."
