Bong Jin-moon, Wando County Governor, Joins 'Pause for a Moment' Campaign to Curb COVID-19 Spread During Liberation Day Holiday

[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) is conducting a "Let's All Pause Together Campaign" during the summer vacation season to block local infections amid the nationwide surge of COVID-19.

On the 15th, according to the county, public officials including Vice Governor Bong Jin-moon participated in a street campaign at the artificial waterfall intersection in Wando-eup during the Liberation Day holiday.

Wando-gun's "Let's All Pause Together Campaign" requests residents to refrain from visiting other regions and meeting outsiders during the summer vacation period, especially appealing to hometown visitors to postpone their visits temporarily.

Vice Governor Bong Jin-moon said, "Recently, COVID-19 cases have occurred mainly in island areas of Wando-gun," and added, "In preparation for the Liberation Day holiday, we launched this campaign with staff to proactively prevent hometown visitors from nationwide areas from causing local infections."

Wando-gun aims to curb the spread through the summer vacation "Pause Together Campaign," with Governor Shin Woo-cheol personally sending a letter urging residents and hometown visitors to participate, and the Hometown Association also sending an appeal jointly signed by nationwide association presidents to 300,000 hometown visitors to encourage participation.

Additionally, the county is reinforcing thorough quarantine measures by rechecking disinfection at major tourist spots including local beaches, waiting rooms, and passenger ships, and is providing a "Grave Mowing Proxy Service" to prevent movement for grave mowing during the summer vacation and Chuseok holidays from becoming a catalyst for COVID-19 spread.
