[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Nasmedia, KT Group's digital media rep, announced its preliminary Q2 earnings on the 12th.
Nasmedia's consolidated operating profit for Q2 this year was 8 billion KRW, a 43% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the same period rose 15% to 29.5 billion KRW. On a separate basis, revenue was 20.1 billion KRW and operating profit was 7.4 billion KRW, up 10% and 22% respectively from the previous year.
In Q2, the advertising market recovered and digital marketing became active due to the extension of social distancing, leading to high growth in online advertising. For online DA (Display AD), sales of major media outlets continued to perform well with an increase in handling volume from major large advertisers and the influx of many new advertisers.
Online SA (Search AD), which had been sluggish last year, also turned around and grew significantly. Mobile platform advertising also contributed to performance growth with the launch of new platforms and growth in performance-based ads.
Additionally, K-Deal, a text-based commerce business that has shown explosive growth since its launch in Q1 through partnership with KT, is solidifying its position as a customer needs-tailored commerce platform through big data analysis and strengthening product competitiveness, raising market expectations about how far Nasmedia's growth momentum will continue.
A Nasmedia official stated, “In Q2, the advertising market, which had been stagnant after COVID-19, recovered, resulting in high sales and operating profit,” and added, “We expect the sales of addressable TV ads, which will be fully launched in the future, to become a new growth momentum for digital broadcasting advertising.”
