Dobong-gu Mayor Lee Dong-jin Awarded Excellence Prize at 2021 First Half Autonomous Decentralization University

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) awarded the 2021 first half Autonomous Decentralization University Excellence Award to residents who diligently completed the Autonomous Decentralization University Dobong Campus education at the Dobong-gu Office Communication Cooperation Room on the 11th.

The Autonomous Decentralization University Dobong Campus, under the Autonomous Decentralization Local Government Council, was established nationwide for the first time in 2017 and has been operating for five years. This year, it conducted a special 30-year local autonomy online lecture course for residents over six weeks from May to July.

Accordingly, the Autonomous Decentralization University selected students who completed this course with perfect scores and those who actively expressed opinions and participated in classes as Excellence Award recipients. Among approximately 4,500 students from 38 campuses of member local governments of the council, 183 were selected, and at the Dobong Campus, 5 residents out of about 260 students received the Excellence Award.

The awardees are ▲Juhye Kang (Resident Autonomy Committee Member) ▲Deoksun Kim (Resident Autonomy Committee Member) ▲Yongpyo Kim (Sustainable Development Committee Member) ▲Kyungsoo Moon (Resident Autonomy Committee Member) ▲Haksoo Yoo (Resident Autonomy Committee Member), totaling five people.

Dongjin Lee, Mayor of Dobong-gu and President of the Autonomous Decentralization University as well as Chairman of the Autonomous Decentralization Local Government Council, personally presented the certificates on this day, offering congratulations and gratitude to the residents who enthusiastically participated in the somewhat unfamiliar autonomous decentralization education course.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “Greater participation leads to better local autonomy. I am very pleased as the president that residents have shown interest in autonomous decentralization through the Autonomous Decentralization University. Last December, the Local Autonomy Act was fully revised for the first time in 32 years, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of the revival of local autonomy. I hope this special education course provided a meaningful time for students to reflect on local autonomy in our country.”
