[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] KakaoBank is rebounding within a day.
At 10:42 a.m. on the 11th, KakaoBank was trading at 76,000 won, up 6.44% from the previous day.
After falling 9% the previous day, it is rising again today.
Dongyoung Kim, a researcher at Samsung Securities, explained, "KakaoBank, which was listed on the 6th, announced early inclusion in MSCI," adding, "the free float ratio applied by MSCI was decided to be 11%, which is lower than expected."
He continued, "The free float market capitalization in the MSCI index is calculated at 3.6 trillion won, resulting in inclusion at a smaller ratio than expected," and added, "In the past, MSCI has artificially lowered the free float ratio of stocks to minimize the impact of highly volatile stocks on the index during the initial listing period."
Furthermore, he introduced, "The timing of KakaoBank's inclusion in the index is after the market close on August 20."
Stocks included in the MSCI index may see improved foreign investor demand due to the inflow of global passive funds tracking the index.
