[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Kim Du-kwan, a presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, directly criticized Yoon Seok-yeol, the opposition presidential candidate and former Prosecutor General, saying, "Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol is not a presidential candidate nor even qualified to be a citizen of the Republic of Korea," and urged him to "withdraw his candidacy."
On the morning of the 6th, Kim posted on his Facebook under the title "Not a President, Nor Qualified as a Citizen of the Republic of Korea," targeting former Prosecutor General Yoon, stating, "It is a clear fact acknowledged even by the Japanese government that the nuclear power plant in Fukushima melted down and exploded, causing radioactive leakage. Are you saying there was neither an explosion nor leakage?"
He continued, "Do you know that the Sewol ferry sank, sacrificing the precious lives of 304 people? Are you aware that we were under Japanese rule for 36 years? Do you even know that you are a citizen of the Republic of Korea?" He criticized Yoon, saying, "I am genuinely worried that tomorrow you might claim that Dokdo originally belongs to Japan."
He raised his voice, saying, "In this hot midsummer heat, instead of making the people more angry, just withdraw your candidacy immediately and leave for Japan. Buy a house next to the Fukushima nuclear power plant, which you believe had no explosion or contamination, and spend the rest of your life in peace."
Earlier, on the 5th, former Prosecutor General Yoon sparked controversy by stating that "there was basically no radioactive leakage" regarding the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident. In an interview with Busan Ilbo, he mentioned the Fukushima nuclear accident, saying, "The Fukushima nuclear power plant did not explode. There was significant damage due to the earthquake and tsunami, but the nuclear plant itself did not collapse," asserting that there was no radioactive leakage from the Japanese nuclear accident.
