SPC Samlip Establishes 'ESG Committee' to Accelerate ESG Management

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] SPC Samlip announced on the 6th that it has established an 'ESG Committee' to operate an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management system aimed at fostering a healthy food culture.

On the 5th, SPC Samlip resolved to establish the ESG Committee under the board of directors, considering the importance and expertise of ESG management. The ESG Committee will review ESG strategies, policies, and initiatives, and will be responsible for managing and supervising all ESG-related operations of the company.

The ESG Committee is composed of five outside directors to strengthen decision-making independence. It plans to contribute to enhancing social responsibility for sustainable management through experts in fields such as law, labor, fair trade, and food safety.

As part of the 'Good For All' campaign, a priority task in ESG management, SPC Samlip will apply eco-friendly packaging. In the second half of the year, it will apply 'Bio-PET,' a 100% recyclable plastic made from sugarcane components, to the packaging of the retail salad brand 'Pig in the Garden,' and will also introduce sandwich packaging using eco-friendly foamed PLA containers made from plant-based materials, actively expanding eco-friendly packaging products.

Additionally, SPC Samlip plans to sequentially pursue tasks to achieve mid- to long-term goals such as reducing carbon and waste emissions, developing product lines considering consumer health and nutrition, and strengthening partnerships with local communities and suppliers.

An SPC Samlip official stated, “SPC Samlip will lead a healthy food culture through active ESG management practices and strive to realize social value through win-win cooperation with local communities. We plan to fully launch ESG management with the establishment of the ESG Committee.”
