[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Park] Choi Byung-kwang (30, Samsung Electronics Athletics Team), the first Korean athlete to compete in road events in athletics, finished 37th in the men's racewalking final.


On the 5th, Choi Byung-kwang reached the finish line in 1 hour 28 minutes 12 seconds in the men's 20 km racewalking final held at Odori Park in Sapporo, Japan, placing 37th out of 57 athletes. His time was 7 minutes 7 seconds behind the winner, M. Stano (Italy). Choi, who finished 57th with a time of 1 hour 29 minutes 8 seconds at the Rio Olympics, succeeded in improving his personal ranking in this Olympics but unfortunately failed to break the Korean record (1 hour 19 minutes 13 seconds).
