[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Haesung Optics, a specialized company in camera actuators and lens modules, is experiencing a surge in its stock price. As the domestic stock market is swept by a craze for finding metaverse-related stocks, Haesung Optics is also attracting strong buying interest.
As of 2:54 PM on the 5th, Haesung Optics was trading at 901 KRW, up 13.19% (105 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.
Earlier, Haesung Optics and Izmedia signed a business agreement last month to advance inspection equipment and jointly develop extended reality (XR) devices and content. They agreed to build infrastructure to enter the metaverse market.
Haesung Optics plans to develop proprietary XR devices and dedicated content based on the medical 3D software from J& and Izmedia’s 3D TOF technology, with which it recently signed contracts. The company is securing key camera lens technology and developing 3D software technology, and intends to develop various XR content starting with entry into the medical 3D software market.
Izmedia appointed Randi Zuckerberg, the elder sister of Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, as a non-executive director. Haesung Optics expressed expectations for business cooperation with Oculus, a Facebook subsidiary leading the recent spread of XR devices with the ‘Oculus Quest’ series, through collaboration with Izmedia.
A Haesung Optics representative stated, "Based on our know-how in developing and producing mobile lenses and camera modules, we will cooperate to advance Izmedia’s related inspection equipment, and simultaneously jointly develop XR devices and content integrated with 3D software. Through this business agreement, both companies will become good partners in entering the XR market."
