Imsil-gun Promotes 'Signboard Improvement Project' for Osu Traditional Market

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk (Governor Shim Min) announced on the 5th that it applied for the signboard improvement contest project hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, was finally selected last month, and will promote the project in the Osu downtown area.

The target of this project is to replace the signboards of 109 businesses in 80 buildings along a section of about 1.2 km centered on Osu Traditional Market.

The county plans to invest a total of 440 million won in the project, supporting installation costs of up to 4 million won per business, reflecting the Osugae statue that suits the traditional theme of the Osu area, and aims to realize a prestigious downtown through creative building facade design and street environment improvement.

In addition, to ensure smooth project promotion, the county first encouraged voluntary participation in the project by explaining the necessity and effects of the project to building owners, store owners, and the Osu Merchants Association.

With professional designer consulting, the signboard design was made to represent the characteristics of each business while creating a themed street unique to Osu.

To make it a successful resident-led project, continuous administrative support plans will be prepared for the residents' council, and even after the project ends, signboards will be managed through regular improvement project meetings at the merchants' association level to maintain aesthetic harmony.

The county expects that a high-quality Osu street environment will be created in connection with the signboard improvement project, the ongoing landscape maintenance project around the old Osu Station, the urban regeneration recognition project, and the Osu Happiness Nuri Center construction project.

Governor Shim Min said, “I hope that the installation of unique signboard designs that reflect the characteristics of the Osu area will serve as an opportunity to newly promote Osu, enhance the pride of local residents, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy through consumption promotion.”
