[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Four additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed over two days from the 4th to the 5th in Naju, Jeollanam-do.
The city announced that cases number 123 to 125 were confirmed the previous day, and case number 126 was confirmed on the 5th, with epidemiological investigations currently underway.
All of them reside in Bitgaram-dong. Cases 123 to 125 tested positive during self-quarantine after contact with previously confirmed patients, and no separate movement paths were identified.
Cases 123 and 124 were family members who had contact with case number 117 and were quarantined. They initially tested negative during the first test last month but were confirmed positive through additional testing before quarantine release.
Case 125 also tested positive during self-quarantine after contact with case number 3454 from Gwangju at a PC bang last month.
Case 126 had contact with a confirmed patient from another region on the 1st, was tested at the Bitgaram-dong screening clinic on the 4th, and was confirmed positive the following morning.
Health authorities have requested disinfection of the home and workplace and testing of one cohabitant, and have begun epidemiological investigations to identify contacts and movement paths of case 126.
An official from the health authorities stated, “Most recent confirmed cases were identified during self-quarantine, indicating effective quarantine management. However, for case 126, epidemiological investigation is necessary to trace movements prior to contact with the confirmed patient from another region. We will do our best to manage quarantine to ensure citizen safety and prevent further community spread.”
