Goheung-gun Supports Scholarships for Outstanding Academic Achievement to Foster Future Talent

42.5 Million Won Supported for 85 High School Students with Excellent Academic Performance

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 5th that it has provided a total of 42.5 million KRW in scholarships of 500,000 KRW each to 85 students from five high schools to foster future talents in Goheung and improve the high school enrollment rate within the region.

The Future Talent Development Academic Excellence Scholarship is a scholarship program supporting academically outstanding students in local middle and high schools. High school students receive 500,000 KRW each for the first and second semesters, and the top 10% of students graduating from local middle schools who enroll in local high schools receive 1 million KRW each in December.

Since the 7th local government administration, the county has established the "Goheung-gun Education Development 5-Year Comprehensive Plan" and introduced scholarships such as academic excellence scholarships for admission to local high schools, scholarships for children of returnees, and academic excellence scholarships for university freshmen, to ensure many students can benefit. Additionally, the county continues to promote the cultivation of local talents through programs for academic improvement, career exploration, planning, and experience.

A county official stated, "We will continue to make efforts to prevent the outflow of outstanding local talents and enable individuals to demonstrate their capabilities through customized local education projects and educational environment improvement projects."

Meanwhile, the education development fund established since 2008 has exceeded 23.9 billion KRW to date, and the county continues to promote educational environment improvement projects for nurturing future local talents, including fostering prestigious local high schools and specialized high schools, operating academies for middle and high school students, and providing congratulatory funds for admission to local high schools.
