Incheon International Airport Corporation conducted a "Fire Response Training for Aircraft Accident Preparedness" on the 3rd at the Incheon Airport model aircraft firefighting training ground, where participants carried out realistic drills such as fire suppression and passenger rescue assuming a fire outbreak on an aircraft.
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 5th that it recently conducted fire response training for aircraft accident preparedness at the model aircraft firefighting training ground at Incheon Airport.
About 50 people, including the Incheon International Airport Corporation Airport Fire Brigade, participated in the training while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines. The training simulated a scenario where an aircraft, during landing at Incheon Airport, suffered a nose gear failure and veered off to the green area on the west side of Runway 3, causing an engine fire that spread into the cabin, conducting fire response training as if in a real situation.
As fires have been frequently occurring recently in multi-use buildings such as logistics warehouses, pensions, and factories domestically, the corporation plans to establish a fire response posture similar to real situations through this training and respond promptly to the expected increase in passengers following the expansion of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, stated, “To ensure passengers can use Incheon Airport safely and conveniently, we will strengthen fire response training as if in real situations and perfectly prepare for emergencies such as aircraft accidents.”
