Shinhan Life Bitnaneun Foundation Supports Children at Risk of Food Insecurity During Summer Vacation

Shinhan Life Social Contribution Foundation Shinhan Life Bitnaneun Foundation announced on the 5th that it will carry out a support project for children at risk of food insecurity during the summer vacation period. Sung Daekyu, Chairman of Shinhan Life Bitnaneun Foundation, is personally delivering boxes containing healthy meals to children in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Shinhan Life Social Contribution Foundation Shinhan Life Bitnaneun Foundation announced on the 5th that it will carry out a support project for children at risk of food insecurity during the summer vacation period.

This initiative was prepared for children at risk of food insecurity due to the closure of community welfare centers and local children's centers amid COVID-19, which led to the suspension of meal provision as summer vacation began. This is the second project following the winter vacation support project in December last year.

The foundation will provide a healthy meal plan worth 100 million KRW to 500 children in the Seoul area once a week for a total of four weeks. A professional nutritionist designed a menu of nine items, including side dishes and soup, considering the nutrients necessary for growth, which will be delivered to the children's homes early in the morning.

On the first day of delivery, Sung Dae-gyu, chairman of Shinhan Life Bitnaneun Foundation, personally delivered boxes containing the healthy meal plans to children in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and sent messages of encouragement.

Chairman Sung said, "The issue of children at risk of food insecurity during school meal suspensions in the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic is becoming more serious," adding, "I hope this program helps children in blind spots of care maintain their health and gain emotional stability."
