Nexon CEO Lee Jeongheon: "Developing 10 Super IPs and Hiring 1,000 New Employees"

Nexon CEO Lee Jeongheon: "Developing 10 Super IPs and Hiring 1,000 New Employees" Lee Jeongheon, CEO of Nexon Korea

Jungheon Lee, CEO of Nexon Korea, announced on the 5th that the company is developing 10 major intellectual properties (IPs) and plans to hire more than 1,000 new employees by next year.

At the ‘Nexon Media Showcase’ held online that day, CEO Lee said, "We plan to focus on continuous research and bold investment." Last year, Nexon became the first domestic game company to surpass 3 trillion won in annual revenue. Earlier this year, the company strengthened its compensation system by raising all employees' annual salaries by 8 million won and has been focusing on solidifying its foundation. Moving forward, Nexon will seek new growth engines. CEO Lee stated, "To drive the company's new innovation and growth, we will hire more than 1,000 new employees from the second half of this year through next year, and significantly enhance activities that give back to society based on the keywords ‘children’ and ‘coding’ to repay the love we have received."

On the same day, Nexon announced seven key projects, including ‘Project Magnum’, ‘Mabinogi Mobile’, and ‘Project HP’. ‘Project Magnum’ is a highly anticipated title that combines third-person shooting combat with NetGames’ expertise in role-playing games (RPGs), aiming for simultaneous domestic and global release.

The four major projects from Nexon’s New Development Headquarters include PC and mobile massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) with differentiated content such as popularizing siege warfare and 24-hour real-time large-scale battles: ‘Project ER’, a MMORPG; ‘Project SF2’, a character collection RPG; ‘TalesWeaver M’, a mobile MMORPG that strengthens the original’s solid story and core content; and ‘Project HP’, an action PC game set on a fantasy medieval battlefield where more than 30 players engage in close combat. Project HP has entered alpha testing starting today. CEO Lee shared, "We conducted internal testing of Project HP last month, and the internal evaluation was positive enough to extend the testing period."

Nexon also unveiled its sub-brand ‘Project Early Stage’ for the first time. ‘Project Early Stage’ is a concept preceding the closed beta test (CBT) conducted before a game’s release. It reflects the company’s intention to communicate with users from the early stages of game development. The games included in the Project Early Stage revealed that day are the ocean adventure game ‘DR’, the action game ‘P2’, and the medieval adventure ‘P3’.

Nexon explained that the new title ‘KartRider: Drift’ is also in the final stages of development. CEO Lee emphasized, "We are working intensely to deliver a highly polished game that exceeds users’ expectations."
