[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hana Bank announced on the 5th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Information and Communication Technology Association (KICTA) to cooperate in the field of digital financial innovation and agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation for digital financial innovation and the development of ICT in Korea.

The Korea Information and Communication Technology Association is a specialized certification body under the Ministry of Science and ICT, established to set and disseminate information and communication technology standards, providing testing, certification, and consulting services to enhance software stability.

Through a non-face-to-face video conference held on the 4th to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Hana Bank and KICTA plan to actively promote cooperation for convergent digital financial innovation, including ▲ sharing digital financial innovation projects and policies ▲ technology exchange in ICT testing and certification ▲ development and demonstration research of next-generation digital financial services ▲ digital transformation education, and plan to gradually expand the scope of communication and cooperation in the future.

Through this agreement, Hana Bank will be able to stably incorporate specialized and innovative ICT and information security technologies from different industries into financial services, and KICTA will be able to expand the application of accumulated ICT and information security technologies from non-financial sectors to the financial sector, contributing to securing the quality and reliability of advanced financial services.

At the time of signing the agreement, both parties decided to prioritize their efforts on the ‘Electronic Signature Certification Provider’ project that Hana Bank has been independently promoting. Hana Bank will advance the Hana One Q private certification based on KICTA’s consulting.

Juhwan Lee, Head of Information Security Division at Hana Bank, said, “Hana Bank’s financial specialized ICT and information security know-how has met KICTA’s ICT standardization and verification technology, laying the foundation for convergent digital financial innovation,” adding, “In the era of hyper-personalization, not only customized services for customers but also higher technological reliability that customers can trust are required, so the public and private sectors will cooperate to create synergy in transforming into a trusted digital financial platform.”

Chulsoon Park, Director of the Software Testing and Certification Research Institute at KICTA, said, “Based on the cooperation between the two organizations, we will strive to create next-generation financial services based on digital financial innovation and secure technological reliability,” and added, “We will do our best to provide practical help in creating a safe electronic financial transaction environment.”
