[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 5th that it held a social contribution event called 'Online Kimchi Sharing.' The 500kg of young radish kimchi made through the online kimchi-making event was delivered to elderly people living alone in Dongja-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
KT's 'Love Volunteer Group' kimchi event marks its 20th year this year. As a sharing activity for marginalized groups, it has been conducted through a non-face-to-face video system since last year due to COVID-19.
This online kimchi sharing event was held on the 4th by connecting KT Mokdong Tower studio and the homes of 100 employees via a video system. In the main studio, kimchi researcher Chef Jongim Lee explained how to make young radish kimchi, and employees participated in the event at home while following the chef's recipe. Prior to the event, KT delivered kits containing young radish, cucumber, seasoning, and various mixing ingredients. To add significance, they purchased local agricultural products that have been struggling due to COVID-19.
Lee Seonju, KT ESG Management Promotion Director (Senior Executive Director), said, "The Love Volunteer Group gathered their hearts to help elderly people exhausted by COVID-19 and heatwaves have a cool and healthy summer," and added, "KT will consider warm ESG activities that can add value to society as a leading ESG company in Korea."
