Dongjak-gu Issues Administrative Order for Preemptive Testing of Operators and Workers at 1,663 Multi-use Facilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) has implemented an administrative order for COVID-19 diagnostic testing targeting operators and workers of multi-use facilities.

The district made this decision based on the judgment that active preventive measures are necessary to stop the fourth wave of COVID-19, as cluster infections have continued to occur mainly in multi-use facilities such as saunas and indoor sports facilities.

The targets include operators and workers of a total of 1,663 locations such as ▲beauty salons and bathhouses ▲indoor sports facilities ▲goshiwons, including those who have completed COVID-19 vaccinations.

The compliance period is until August 13, and failure to comply with the administrative order may result in a fine of up to 2 million KRW. If infection spreads due to violation of the order, the district may claim all costs related to quarantine and other expenses.

District officials are directly visiting multi-use facilities to encourage proactive testing so that those subject to the administrative order can get tested as soon as possible.

Additionally, as the government raised social distancing to Level 4, Dongjak-gu has installed additional temporary screening clinics in the district office parking lot and extended the operating hours of existing screening clinics, expanding daily testing capacity to about 5,000 tests, making every effort to prevent COVID-19.

There are three screening clinics in the area: ▲Public Health Center Screening Clinic ▲Sadang Temporary Testing Site ▲District Office Temporary Testing Site.

Furthermore, to ensure rapid and safe testing and reduce waiting times at screening clinics, the district has introduced ▲a real-time waiting number notification system ▲an electronic questionnaire system, enabling real-time waiting status checks and electronic questionnaire completion via the Dongjak-gu website and QR codes available on-site.

Changwoo Lee, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “Despite the upgrade and extension of social distancing to Level 4, confirmed cases continue to surge mainly in multi-use facilities, so after much consideration, we have implemented the proactive testing administrative order. Proactive testing is the best way to protect myself and my family from COVID-19, and I sincerely ask for your active participation.”
