Suncheon Cultural Foundation Secures Additional 265 Million KRW in Government Funding for 'Cheongchun Mike'

Recruiting 30 Additional Youth Artist Teams Active in Gwangju and Jeonnam

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon Cultural Foundation (Chairman Heo Seok) announced on the 4th that it will additionally recruit 30 youth artist teams active in Gwangju and Jeonnam, following the additional securing of 265 million KRW in project funds for the 2021 Culture Day (total project fund 721 million KRW).

The additional recruitment will be held until the 18th, and applications are open to small-scale (1 to 5 members) busking performance teams composed of talented and passionate young cultural artists nationwide (aged 19 to 34) who can perform in Gwangju and Jeonnam.

To apply, applicants can download the application form from the Suncheon Cultural Foundation and Suncheon City Hall websites and submit it via email. A total of 30 teams will be selected through a first round of document and video screening and a second round of audition evaluation.

The 30 teams finally selected will participate in a youth artist launch ceremony and workshop on the 3rd of next month, and together with the existing 38 teams, are expected to present various genre performances to the general public throughout the entire period including the Culture Day week, at indoor and outdoor cultural and artistic performance spaces within the Gwangju-Jeonnam region.

A representative of the Suncheon Cultural Foundation said, “We hope the Cheongchun Mike project will serve as an opportunity to revitalize urban cultural spaces that have lost their daily vibrancy, and we will strive to ensure safe and successful performances through flexible scheduling considering the COVID-19 situation.”

Meanwhile, the 2021 Culture Day is a project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and jointly organized by the Regional Culture Promotion Agency and the Suncheon Cultural Foundation. It provides talented young artists with performance opportunities and financial support on Culture Day to help them grow, while offering citizens of Gwangju and Jeonnam provinces cultural enjoyment opportunities to experience stages familiar in their daily lives.

The monthly performance schedules and venues for Cheongchun Mike Gwangju-Jeonnam region are introduced around the middle of each month on the Suncheon Cultural Foundation website and SNS (Facebook, Instagram).
