'Data Era' Ministry of the Interior and Safety Holds Comprehensive Forum on Administrative Document Innovation

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 4th that it will hold a comprehensive forum on administrative document innovation in the data era to establish standards for administrative documents that are machine-readable in the data age.

This forum was organized to improve the document creation method to facilitate data storage and utilization according to recent technological advancements such as cloud, AI, and big data, moving away from the traditional document creation method based on paper document forms.

The comprehensive forum will include industry representatives such as document editing software companies, data analysis firms, and the Korea Electronic Document Industry Association, as well as academia in big data and records management fields, and experts related to international electronic document standards. They will engage in in-depth discussions on document formats for administrative document innovation and the government's direction for administrative documents in the data era.

So far, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety has collected opinions several times from various sectors including research institutes, academia, industry, and related government departments regarding document creation methods suitable for the data era. This forum is expected to serve as a venue where experts from related fields gather to synthesize the discussions to date.

Han Chang-seop, Director of the Government Innovation Organization Office, stated, "If the approximately 14 million administrative documents generated annually are well accumulated as data, more rational policy decisions can be made, and new value creation through the utilization of accumulated data will also be possible." He added, "Through the comprehensive forum, we will transform administrative documents into data-friendly formats suitable for the data era and promote document production methods based on open formats."
