Pohang City Reports 12 Confirmed Cases from Foreign Group Cluster Over 2-3 Days

According to Pohang City on the 3rd, as of 6 p.m. that day, 15 more local COVID-19 confirmed cases were reported. As a result, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Pohang area has increased to 803.

Among the 10 people confirmed positive related to the foreigner gathering that day, 9 were foreign nationals and 1 was a family member. Three contacts of existing confirmed cases and one overseas entrant were also confirmed positive.

On the 2nd, two people, including one foreigner and one family member, were confirmed positive related to the foreigner gathering, bringing the total number of confirmed cases related to the foreigner gathering over the two days from the 2nd to the 3rd to 12.

In the Pohang area, a cluster of foreigner confirmed cases has occurred at once, delaying epidemiological investigations. Pohang City explained that they are utilizing available personnel to quickly identify movement paths and contacts.

A Pohang City official said, "Since late July, the beginning of the peak vacation season, the number of confirmed cases has not decreased as transmission has occurred in workplaces, public bathhouses, multi-use facilities, gatherings of acquaintances, and families," and urged, "Please refrain from inter-regional outings as much as possible and cancel unnecessary appointments."
