512 Students Tested Positive for COVID-19 in the Last 5 Days... Daily Average Down by 24 Compared to Jeonju

Average 102.4 Daily Confirmed Cases... 98.7% of Schools Nationwide Enter Vacation

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] As most schools nationwide have entered vacation, 512 students have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 over the past five days.

According to the Ministry of Education on the 3rd, from the 29th of last month to the 2nd of this month, a total of 512 students tested positive, averaging 102.4 confirmed cases per day.

This is 24 fewer daily confirmed student cases compared to the previous week (22nd?28th), which averaged 126.3 cases per day. The cumulative number of confirmed student cases this semester is 9,382.

During the same period, 57 faculty and staff members tested positive, averaging 11.4 confirmed cases per day.

Among the metropolitan area schools that switched to full remote classes starting from the 14th of last month, over 99% are currently on summer vacation.

As of 10 a.m. on the 3rd, out of 7,768 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the metropolitan area, 7,710 schools (99.3%) have started summer vacation. 39 schools (0.5%) conducted remote classes, and 19 schools (0.2%) held in-person classes.

Nationwide, out of 20,512 schools, 98.7% (20,245 schools) have started vacation, and only 71 schools (0.3%) are conducting remote classes.

Meanwhile, over the past five days, 202 new university student cases and 22 university faculty and staff cases were reported. The daily average number of confirmed cases is 40.4 for university students and 4.4 for faculty and staff. Compared to the previous six days (July 22?28), the daily average decreased by 6.6 and 0.9 cases respectively. The cumulative number of confirmed university student cases is 4,339, and university faculty and staff cases total 422.
