Seoul City Expects Annual Budget Savings of 40 Million KRW... '40 KRW per Case' When Using Existing Enforcement Inquiry Service
Applying Certificate Cloud Method... "Expecting Active Administrative Effects"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 4th that it will improve the personal authentication method for using the traffic violation enforcement inquiry service to the fee-free 'Financial Certificate,' saving an annual budget of about 40 million KRW.
The traffic violation enforcement inquiry service is a portal site for citizen parking and stopping complaints that integrates the 'Parking and Stopping Enforcement Inquiry Civil Service System' previously operated separately by Seoul City and each autonomous district since November last year. It provides functions such as inquiry and payment of traffic violation fines, statements of opinion, and objections regarding enforcement.
A fee of 40 KRW per authentication is charged to use the enforcement inquiry service. Last year, the payment fee was 12,931,000 KRW, but this year, with the number of enforcement inquiries increasing to 556,957 cases by June, a fee of about 40 million KRW is expected to occur from July to December.
Seoul City expects a budget saving of 40 million KRW due to this improvement in the authentication method and anticipates the effect of proactive administration. As the number of citizens using the enforcement inquiry service has increased, Seoul City has been researching ways to provide convenience to users and reduce fees. In May, with the cooperation of related organizations such as the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute, it began developing an authentication method applying the 'Financial Certificate.'
The changed 'Financial Certificate' login on the enforcement inquiry system homepage applies the certificate cloud method provided by the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute, allowing citizens to authenticate without needing to store certificates on PCs, USBs, smartphones, or other devices.
Baek Ho, Director of the Urban Transportation Office of Seoul City, said, "With the improvement of the personal authentication method for the traffic violation enforcement inquiry service to the Financial Certificate authentication, which incurs no separate cost, we expect it to greatly contribute not only to budget savings but also to providing convenience to users." He added, "We will continue to make efforts to practice proactive administration to provide convenient transportation services in the future."
