[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it will reorganize 12 departments across 9 vocational high schools to reflect future industrial demands.
Incheon Bio Science High School will establish a Bio-Pharmaceutical Department to teach quality control of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and component analysis technologies.
Yeongjong International Logistics High School will create an International Customs Department reflecting Yeongjongdo’s logistics-centered characteristics, focusing on customs and trade administration.
Incheon Fire Service High School will reorganize its current Industrial Equipment Department, Automation Apprenticeship Department, and Poly Mechanics Department into the Fire Equipment Department and Fire Machinery Department to cultivate specialized talent in the fire service field.
In line with the growth of the pet industry, Incheon Finance High School will convert its Finance and Office Administration Departments into a Pet Beauty Care Department, and Incheon Industrial Information School will reorganize its Tourism Chinese Department into a Pet Care Department.
Incheon Electronics Meister High School will reorganize its Electronic Control and Electronic Circuit Departments into an Artificial Intelligence Robotics Department, and Incheon Jaeneung High School will convert its Smart Architecture Department into an AI Robotics Department to nurture talent in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector.
Incheon Popular Arts High School, which successfully recruited new students last year by establishing Performing Arts and Drone Operation Departments, will newly establish a Practical Dance Department this year, becoming the first public specialized high school to lead in the popular culture and arts field.
Incheon Information Science High School will restructure its IT Communication Department into an IT Convergence Communication Department. It plans to cultivate network-based IT convergence communication experts in preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
These schools will begin recruiting new students for the reorganized departments starting next year. Detailed recruitment guidelines and schedules can be found on each school’s website.
Do Seonghun, Superintendent of Incheon Education, stated, "We will continue to promote the reorganization of departments in new industries and promising fields and prepare a mid- to long-term roadmap for this purpose. We will support vocational high schools to serve as a ladder of hope where students can be born, grow, and find careers in Incheon."
