SPC Group Sectnine Launches Startup Incubation Project


[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Sektanin, a digital business specialist company of SPC Group, announced on the 3rd that it will engage in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management by establishing a startup collaboration model through the ‘Startup Incubation Project.’


The ‘Startup Incubation Project’ is an open innovation program that receives business ideas for collaboration from startups and applies them to actual business. It was promoted to build collaboration models with startups and discover new growth engines. Open innovation involves sourcing technology and ideas externally while sharing internal resources.


Sektanin set the first project theme as ‘Fintech’ and held demo days on the 27th and 30th of last month to propose business plans related to SPC Group’s store platform. This demo day was announced to about 150 startups participating in the startup incubation programs of Seoul Fintech Lab and Fintech Cube, fintech company incubation institutions, and 15 companies were finally selected to present online.


Through the demo day evaluation, Sektanin plans to provide the startups finally selected with business opportunities to jointly plan and commercialize the next-generation POS (Point of Sale) system development with SPC Group and will also consider investment attraction.


A Sektanin official said, “Based on SPC Group’s food tech business know-how, Sektanin will continue the ‘Startup Incubation Project’ in various fields such as fintech, big data, digital marketing, and commerce. Through this, we will build innovative business models aligned with the vision of a ‘Smart Life Technology Company’ and take the lead in ESG management by actively supporting startup growth.”


Meanwhile, launched in January, Sektanin is a digital marketing specialist company created by combining SPC Group’s accumulated platform business technology, marketing capabilities, and ICT business infrastructure. It accelerates the group’s digital transformation and leads technology-based marketing platform businesses.
