[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] As heavy rain damage in Henan Province, central China, worsens, the related death toll has exceeded 300.

According to Xinhua News Agency on the 2nd, Henan provincial authorities announced that as of noon that day, the death toll due to heavy rain reached 302, with 50 people missing.

In Henan Province, last month's "once-in-a-thousand-years heavy rain" caused flooding and collapse accidents in many places, resulting in numerous casualties.

The largest number of deaths, 292, occurred in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital and the hardest-hit area. The number of missing persons was also counted as 47 in Zhengzhou alone. In Zhengzhou, more than 10 passengers trapped in the subway during the heavy rain died.

In Zhengzhou, the cumulative rainfall over three days from 6 p.m. on the 17th to 6 p.m. on the 20th reached 617.1 mm. This figure is close to Zhengzhou's annual average rainfall of 640.8 mm.
