[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Kia announced on the 2nd that it sold 241,399 units (wholesale basis) in the global market last month, an 8.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
In July, domestic sales increased by 2.4% year-on-year to 48,160 units. The best-selling vehicle domestically last month was the Sorento, with 6,339 units sold.
Passenger models sold a total of 22,099 units, including 6,008 units of the K8, 5,777 units of the K5, 3,325 units of the Ray, and 3,147 units of the K3.
RV (recreational vehicle) models, including the Sorento, sold a total of 20,675 units, with 5,632 units of the Carnival, 3,152 units of the Seltos, and 3,079 units of the Sportage.
Commercial models sold a total of 5,386 units, including 5,163 units of the BongoⅢ, combining buses and trucks.
Overseas sales in July recorded 193,239 units, a 10.4% increase compared to the same month last year.
Regarding overseas sales by model, the Sportage became the best-selling model overseas with 28,616 units sold. The Seltos followed with 18,965 units, and the Rio (Pride) with 17,831 units.
A Kia official stated, “Although management uncertainty continues due to the resurgence of COVID-19, we will strengthen sales momentum by leading with recently launched competitive new vehicles such as the dedicated electric vehicle EV6, K8, and the 5th generation Sportage.”
